Disciple 2 (English)
How do I walk in the Kingdom?
Jesus lets the disciples investigate his life from the start of his work. He wants them to be with him. Relationship with his followers is an important part of the training Jesus provides. He teaches the disciples that if they know Jesus, they automatically know the Father.
What Jesus shows is that he wants to be among people: he talks with them, he eats with them, he goes to them. Important lessons are learned, especially during the many meals. Jesus shows that people are very important to God. Following religious rules is not important to him but being together and learning together is. Jesus shows his love for the Father and the Father’s love for people. The disciples were shown and told how to walk in that kingdom of God. Jesus gave commands to be focused on the God of the kingdom, how to be in contact with him and how to live with him.
We recommend that you follow the principles of ‘Disciple 2’ after completing ‘Follow 1, 2 and 3 and Disciple 1’. These lessons all have a tutorial, a video with explanations and assignments to apply the discussed principles in your life.
-
Introduction
-
Principle 23 - Repent and believe
Repentance is an act of my will to turn me away from every sin in my life because it saddens the Father. Repentance comes from love for God and your neighbors. Your motivation is to restore your relationship with God and others.
-
Principle 24 - Baptism in water and Spirit
Jesus becomes your Christ, which means the anointed King and Savior. Jesus as King may now reign in my life. Through baptism you say, "I believe with all my heart that Jesus is saving me from the power of satan and his kingdom."
-
Principle 25 - Loving God and your neighbor
Because God loves you radically, you can love God and your neighbor radically through the radical love nature of Jesus in you.
-
Principle 26 - Hearing and doing the word
If we want to become like Jesus the King, it is good to read and apply His instructions for our lives. The main reason that we live will then come to fruition.
-
Principle 27 - Praying, talking to God
Prayer is having a relationship with God the Father. Relationship means being together and sharing your deepest secrets. Talk to each other, laugh, cry, be quiet. Everything is possible with God the Father. He wants you to open your heart to Him.
-
Principle 28 - Giving
Jesus speaks of caring for the poor and people who cannot stand on their own. This includes widows and orphans, asylum seekers, addicts, etc. It is important to Jesus that you do all these things with all your heart, instead of as a duty and because you have to.
-
Principle 29 - Make disciples
Jesus continues to explain to His followers what he himself learned from God. The followers respond to it by applying or not applying it. Only when they do what Jesus says do they become disciples and not just followers. They become like Jesus.
-
Principle 30 - Communion
The old covenant is ended by the death and resurrection of Jesus and a new covenant comes into effect. A covenant that God has made with Christ, and in Christ also with us. Jesus is the complete fulfillment of all promises (covenants) of God.
